saree :  Label Urvashi Srivastava A Budget-Friendly Option! We all have these beautiful dupattas and sarees stored in some corner of our closet and we wonder what to do with them every time when we are set on a mission to arrange them. Don't we? Some of us are even having a trunk of the melange of these 6-yard pieces of our beloved grandparents. Why not bring these beautiful pieces in some excellent creative work! Weddings are perfect to utilize them in clothing, decoration pieces, packaging and gifting options. The best part is that these ideas are pocket-friendly. Big fat weddings have raised the expectations of Indian brides to a greater extent. Somewhere we all want those quirky haldi & mehendi functions which usually comes with heavy price tags.  Let's first discuss the clothing options we can have with old sarees and dupattas but here's a little tip first, always considered it as a piece of cloth instead of something old and let the ga...

Bridal lehengas for winter weddings

How to slay on your D-day!

Wedding Bells are ringing everywhere and here comes the most awaited season. I am so excited and overwhelmed and so are you. I'm getting all sort of questions from my friends and relatives who are getting married, about what to wear, what kind of fabric to choose, to do away with freezing winds. No one wants to shiver throughout their wedding, obviously!. So, I am here to help you with the ideal choice and some really helpful tips to rock your big day with the right outfit.

1. Warm fabrics

Selecting the appropriate material is a very crucial step. You can opt for a thin, flowing, lacy material during daytime wedding or functions but to kill the evening chills, always go for a thick and warm winter material for your attire but that doesn't mean to compromise with the enriching look. In fact, winter fabrics are luxurious and have a strong sheen. You can opt from a large variety of velvets, silks, brocades etc. or for a heavily embroidered outfit. Opaque embellished dupattas will work fine in providing some sort of insulation. You can ask the designer or your tailor to use a thick lining material under your lehenga and blouse piece. Select the fabric of your gorgeous outfit very wisely.

2. Vivacious Velvet

Imagine yourself elegantly wrapped in a soft makhmali fabric, yes! I'm talking about the velvets. You must have seen beautiful sabyasachi brides in royal velvet lehengas. You can choose from a wide variety of velvet lehengas available in the market. Though, silk velvet is the most expensive and usually softer and shinier than other varieties. Brides often choose dark hued velvet lehengas in deep maroon, dark wine or burgundy shades but soft, pastel shades are also available in this fabric. This magnificent fabric is woven on a special loom that weaves two thicknesses of material giving you a warm and cozy feel. Go for this stunner and feel like a maharani.

3. Regal Banarasi Silk Lehenga

Banarasi silk has a special place in an Indian bride's trousseau since ages. This auspicious fabric has its roots embedded in the Varanasi (earlier known as Banaras). It is among the finest fabrics with gold and silver brocade or zari embroidery. It is made of finely woven silk. A banarsi silk lehenga is timeless Indian attire and is quite apt for the winter wedding. Your classic banarsi lehenga will not only provide you a rich look but also make you feel comfortable and cozy due to its natural warmth. You can go for a bright red, burnt orange, emerald green, navy blue or magenta. Even big designers like manish malhotra and sabyasachi are creating silk bridal lehengas.

4. Peplum Lehenga

Victorian era has contributed so much to the fashion and peplum is among one of those contributions. Peplum blouse is basically an overskirt attached to your blouse piece. Peplum tops are reigning the western wear and now the traditional garments too. It provides a very sleek and slim look by accentuating a narrow waist. Such lehengas generally covers the entire tummy. They are not just a decorative feature to your outfit but a peplum also provides a warm and chic look to your whole getup. You can keep it as frills, simple, flowing, pleated or box pleated as per your choice. These are ideal for those brides who don't want to reveal their stomach area.

5. Jacket Lehenga

Layering is the best suitable option for snugging in a winter wedding. And what could be a better option than a jacket lehenga. Many brides are opting this outfit for their best day because of its aesthetic appearance. Heavily embroidered tulle jackets are my personal favorite. Such outfits create a very regal and astonishing look. These lehengas can be preferred by the curvy brides. You can later team up the jacket with a fitted palazzo. Slay it beautiful!

6. Kurti Lehenga

This style is very popular in Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh. We have seen brides breaking the social media in such ravishing and classic lehengas. Well, these are among traditional outfits of north region. Brides pair up their lehenga with a kurti and odhani. Odhani is the opaque dupatta made up of thick fabric. It is embellished with mirrors, gotapatti, tilla work etc. These lehengas are exceptionally beautiful and classy.

7. Full Sleeves Blouse

You can wear full sleeves blouse with your bridal outfit. They not only provide a chic and elegant appearance but they also reflects the minimalist fashion. Be warm, be pretty!

8. Draping and Layering

Draping style can create the layers and keep you warm during a winter evening. You can use two dupattas to add layer. One dupatta can be draped over the stomach and other over the head (refer to the image below text). You can prefer a velvet dupatta or warm, embroidered shawl of matching or contrasting color to compliment your outfit. You can prefer wearing dupatta in a traditional style where it covers the head, shoulders and entire blouse (as shown in first image). Sikh brides prefer to drape the dupatta like this. This style is again ideal for the brides who don't want to reveal their tummy area. Prefer legwarmers and leggings. They won't be noticed. But if you aren't comfortable with the full size then prefer 3/4th length to keep yourself warm.
